Abel Garza, 30, is accused of fatally stabbing Mayra Landeros, 28.

Garza asked neighbors for help early Wednesday when officers stopped a car leaving the area, Laredo Police Chief Miguel Rodriguez told KGNS.

Officers found Landeros in the back seat with critical injuries. Rodriguez said Landeros later died at the hospital.
